Appdapted for Core: Dr. Panda’s Supermarket ($1.99) is available for iOS, Android, Kindle, and Windows. It provides 10 mini games around the supermarket, which includes things like ringing up the customer to throwing out the trash. It provides plenty of opportunity to work on core vocabulary from the one word level and beyond. This isn’t the greatest shopping themed game but the children I work with like it because of the different animals and the different kind of tasks you can do around the store. There will be a number of opportunities to use core vocabulary, granted you are in a supermarket so there may be a lot food related fringe vocabulary used as well.
For the following examples I have overlaid possible Unity 84 icon sequences over the screenshot of the app. This can also serve as a visual prompt for the person you are working with. As you will see you can keep it simple and use 2-3 word utterances or teach some conjunctions like “but” and “and” to expand utterances.
